About 6 years ago, when I had the romantic idea of becoming a photographer, I used to spend hours walking around in Chinatown taking pictures. I took only black and white pictures back then, developed the film myself each week, made contact sheets and printed the ones I thought were decent pictures in the darkroom. New York City’s Chinatown was my subject for almost a year (off and on)
I wasn’t very good back then, and I’m not any better now. But I had the idea to start taking pictures again. This time, no lofty aspiration. The only goal is to make it out to Chinatown 3 mornings a week, and do it till the end of this year. I started last week, but I only made it out once last Tuesday (I blame it on the weather). Today I just finished my 3rd trip of this week.
I have more to say, but this ought to be enough for the day. The picture above was taken this morning. Two kids, brother and sister, I presume, having Chinese food for breakfast.
